City of Memphis Waste Transfer Station

Excessive wear and tear of concrete floors is inherent to the waste industry. Deterioration is caused by high impact and abrasion, effects of chemicals and tons of materials being processed in a 24-hour period. These floors are also abused by front-end loaders moving in a repetitive traffic pattern dumping anything from glass and other jagged materials to aggressive liquids and chemicals. Facilities dealing with waste and recycling transfer require the most rugged and durable tipping floor available.

The Memphis Waste Transfer Station needed a flooring system for their facility that could stand up to this abusive environment. As such, city engineers analyzed the need for a new flooring system. One of the primary concerns for the replacement of the floor was the necessity of eliminating excessive downtime. After extensively evaluating several firms that specialized in industrial waste flooring systems and services, the city turned to Delta Pacific Builders. With more than 40 years experience in communities throughout the United States, Delta Pacific Builders has been at the forefront of product development and field-testing of both existing and new tipping floor systems.

Delta Pacific recommended iron floors – a metallic floor topping system with exceptional ability to absorb impact and abrasion and resistance to chemical attacks. This particular flooring system fit the needs of the owner perfectly as it lasts up to eight times longer than traditional concrete. With a short cure time, there is virtually no installation downtime. Delta arrived on the jobsite with their self-contained 50 foot trailer containing all the necessary equipment and manpower to install the hard working and durable Iron floor.

The new flooring system is living up to its reputation, and the City of Memphis is extremely pleased with the results. Iron floors are far superior to ordinary concrete floors and transfer stations across the United States rely on their durability for the everyday wear and tear inherent to this industry.
